So, PSV triumph on penalties. Beasley misses for the home side, but misses from Abidal and Essien mean the Dutch side go through, to meet probably AC Milan.

Pen 9: Substitute Robert crashes in to the top corner. PSV ARE THROUGH! PSV 4-2 Lyon.

PEN 8: Abidal goes low, but Gomes guesses right and saves low. PSV 3-2 Lyon.

PEn 7: Beasley scuffs a penalty straight at the keeper. Dreadful. Nerves got the better of him. He's consoled by his team-mates, though they are probably cursing him under their breath. PSV 3-2 Lyon.

PEN 4: Essien, the young Ghanian, goes low to Gomes' left, but the keeper guesses correctly and saves easily. He looks as though he might cry. PSV 2-1 Lyon.

PEN 3: Ooijer smashes straight down the middle. PSV 2-1 Lyon.

PEN 2: Juninho goes the same way as Van Bommel. The keeper goes the other way. The crowd fall silent. PSV 1-1 Lyon

PEN 1: Van Bommel smashes low to the keeper's left. His head throbs with passion as he cheers the crowd.
