Liverpool vs Besiktas

1. 90'

Congratulations to Liverpool for an impressive win. In fairness Besiktas were turgid, but an 8-0 win will send a clear to every team in Europe: Do not underestimate Liverpool

2. 90'

Fulltime - Liverpool, count 'em, 8; Besiktas 0.

3. 89'

'You'll Never Walk Alone' rings out as the Kop rise to bless the players who have given them a rare, rare victory.

4. 88'

Besiktas were ripped apart. A cross-field ball finds Benayoun unmarked (as usual), his superb touch is followed by a great cross which was met and headed home by Crouch.

5. 87'

Another goal - 8-0! The biggest ever Chmapions League winning margin!!!

6. 86'

Marseille and Porto are still to come for Liverpool and will pose much stronger tests, but three points here and confidence is high.

7. 85'

Riise is angry with himself after he pulls a shot wide, wide and wider still

8. 84'

Bobo for Besiktas has a rare shot, but Reina is equal to it.

9. 83'

Another chance for Liverpool and Babel - the Dutchman has his head in hands! Some people are never happy.

10. 82'

It's a record score in the Champions League for Liverpool and the Kop say 'We want 8!'

11. 81'

Babel has been given the goal, but it was more of an OG from the simply terrible Toraman. A longball from the back bounced, Toraman had no idea what to do so kicked wildly, it ricocheted off Babel, just, and spooned over the keeper.

12. 80'

    Another goal to Liverpool!!!

13. 79'

Square to the byline Benayoun passed the ball on the deck to Babel who clipped the ball with a delightful back-heel into the goal. Superb!

14. 78'

    GOAL! Liverpool 6-0!!

15. 77'

A change for Besiktas: On comes Ricardinho and off goes Mehmet Sedef

16. 76'

Riise cuts out a pass meant for Cisse; it's not been Besiktas night.

17. 75'

Welcome back Harry Kewell. His first touch though is a shocking half-volley wide into the Kop. Oh dear.

18. 74'

Crouch digs the ball out of his feet towards Lucas who slips a neat pass wide to Beanyoun, but it is too far for him and Besiktas are off the hook

19. 73'

Benayoun treats the stands to a few party tricks

20. 72'

Another change for Liverpool. With the job done Gerrard takes to the becnh with Lucas on in his stead

21. 71'

Voronin, who has had a great night, is given a standing ovation as he leaves the pitch after being substituted for Harry Kewell

22. 70'

Replays show a slight deflection from Diatta but it doesn't take away from the fluidity of the move or Liverpool's attacking play

23. 68'

Liverpool tear apart Besiktas with a slick move. Mascherano slotted a pass to the rampaging Gerrard he played a one-two with Voronin who laid the ball back to his skipper with a sublime backheel-flick which Gerrard collected and slammed home

24. 68'

    It's 5-0 - goal to Stevie G!

25. 68'

A poor set-play from Liverpool, but Besiktas contrive to lose the ball straight away and invite more pressure
