West Ham United vs Liverpool

Defoe looked lively when a threaded ball went through the Liverpool defence. But, guess what, he's offside.

Bruno Cheyrou, yet to convince in English football, replaces Smicer.

They choose to play it short and Murphy's ball is poor. But West Ham's attack is unconvincing and Liverpool have it back quickly.

Henchoz comes across to stop a Hammers attack. An offside means his team can launch a long ball - in the usual fashion.

Another Liverpool corner. This time it's cleared. Though Liverpool get another chance before Di Canio can clear.

Di Canio gets to a ball which drifted through from Kanoute. He cuts inside only for Dudek to save. Good stuff from the Pole.

Michael Owen comes on for Milan Baros, who's had a fine afternoon. Owen must fancy knocking one in - to cure the ills of Wednesday's misfirings.

West Ham try to mount an attack. It's all in vain but it beats defending. Kanoute just missed out on a nice ball from Johnson, again impressive.

Hyypia gets another free-header. He's unmarked - again. He misses the target. Terrible, terrible marking from the Hammers.

West Ham, who'd improved in this half, have, not for the first time, made a defensive error to throw away the game.

Corner from Riise. Hyypia escapes the Kanoute, heads back across goal and Heskey gets just in front of James to knock in. James was fallible but it's now 3-0 to Liverpool.
