Newcastle United vs Arsenal

Arsenal miss the chance to stretch their lead at the top of the Premiership and, with Manchester United also drawing, it's as you were in the title race.

The extra work rate is taking its toll on ten-man Newcastle as Dyer goes down with cramp.

Newcastle run down the clock with a substitution. Ameobi replaces Shearer.

The massed Newcastle defence are frustrating Arsenal and Vieira hits a 30-yard shot well wide.

Arsenal are camped in Newcastle's half. Parlour whips a dangerous cross into the box but there is nobody attacking the ball.

Cole battles with Hughes. Cole gets frustrated, clatters into the defender from behind and gets booked.

Bellamy breaks with pace. Speed can't find the decisive pass to cut through the Arsenal defence and the ball goes back to the defence.

Arsenal make another change as Parlour replaces Gilberto and Van Bronckhorst replaces Wiltord.

Bellamy and Pires clash and have words. The ref calls the duo over........

Given mops up at the back but everytime the ball is cleared it keeps coming straight back at the Newcastle defence.

...Given gets his body behind the ball and Newcastle hang on.

Pires lofts the ball into the box. Campbell knocks the ball down to Vieira, who shoots on the turn.........

Arsenal win a corner.

Shearer gets the ball on the right. He looks up to make the cross but there is nobody in the box. Speed eventually arrives but the ball doesn't.

Arsenal make a change. Jeffers, who has just been called into the England squad, replaces Bergkamp - who is booed as he leaves the pitch.

Cole finds space for a cross. Pires comes in at the back post but heads over the bar.

Newcastle are working the left touchline with Bernard and Dyer but they can't open up the Arsenal defence.

Dyer plays a one-two with Speed but the return ball is poor and Newcastle's attack breaks down.

Newcastle win another throw deep in Arsenal's half. Once again the ball ends up with Given, who hoofs it upfield to where they started but now all the Magpies players have retreated.

The game is going through a scrappy period and that will suit ten-man Newcastle fine.

Shearer and Campbell do battle once more and this time it's Shearer who ends up on his backside.
