   All credit to Villa - they were fantastic today and thoroughly deserved their win. United just weren't at it, and couldn't create anything of note in the second half. the players lap it up, as well they might. United stay second, three behind Chelsea. Villa are up third.

   Berbatov lays-ff to Carrick but his volley squirms off the side of his boot and goes wide. Martin O'Neill is furious after Carew was brought down but the ref waved play on.

   Not much doing for United as time drags on. They are camped in Villa's half but not getting that final ball right.

    Rooney runs at Villa's back line and has two options, Owen to his left and Berbatov through the middle. He goes for the latter choice but overhits a simple ball and Friedel is out to grab it. Very disappointing from Rooney.

    A decent spell of pressure from united now as Valencia's cross os met by Cueallar. Villa are sinking deeper and deeper into their own half though.
