   Everton have a throw, deep in Liverpool territory, but it comes to nothing.

   Liverpool make a change. Maxi, who has had a quietly efficient match, is replaced by Aurelio.

   Anichebe beats his defender. The striker has a great chance to shoot, but delays too long and Lucas gets back to block Anichebe's effort.

   Donovan runs at the Liverpool defence. He attempts a quick pass to Yakubu, but it is cut out by Agger.

    Neville lofts the ball to the back post. Reina comes out to punch and makes a complete mess of it. Luckily for Liverpool the flag is up for offside.

    Yakubu brings the ball under control, shrugs off his defender and fires off a shot that Reina palms past the post. Yakubu created that from nothing.

    Babel runs at the Everton defence. Arteta has tracked the Dutchman's run and makes a good tackle on the edge of the penalty area.

    Yakubu gives Carragher a shove in the back as he tries to clear the ball and another time-sapping freekick goes Liverpool's way.

    Heitinga with another hoof up the pitch to Cahill, which is once again unsuccessful.

    Anichebe is furious with Gerrard and starts to shove random Liverpool players all over the place. Gerrard gets booked for the late tackle and Anichebe is booked for his reaction.

    Peinaar is floored by a tackle from Gerrard, who clatters the player.

    Arteta begins a counter-attack and Baines wins a corner. Gerrard and then Kuyt head clear for Liverpool.

    The Everton fans are starting to look at their watches.

    Everton are having plenty of possession on the half-way line but can't seem to find the key to unlock the massed Liverpool defence.

    Maxi stays down following a tackle from Neville. More time ticks away.

    Arteta and Peinaar both attempt to slide passes through to the Everton strikers but both Anichebe and Yakubu look a little rusty after coming off the subs bench and the moves breakdown.

    Reina takes his time over taking a goalkick. It seems Liverpool are happy for it to stay 1-0.

    Another Everton move fails to penetrate Liverpool's defence and Gerrard launches a counter-attack. Babel is clean through on goal but the flag is up for offside.

    Babel holds possession as Liverpool's lone striker and wins a freekick from Arteta. Good play from the Dutchman, who had no support.
