Chelsea vs Everton

   Well Chelsea deserved to win, but Saha could have made things very different. Ultimately, they had a little too much class for Everton, who will be disappointed that they showed less edge than a circle.

   Everton know the game is up. Baines fouls Bosingwa and Chelsea have a free kick on the edge of the Everton area, down the right-hand side.

   Mikel takes out Cahill but the referee either doesn't see or deems it not to be a foul.

   Great ball over the top from Lampard, and Anelka beats Lescott to it, but the defender does enough to make him send the ball over the bar.

   Pienaar accelerates through midfield but his attempted through pass is intercepted. Everton have hardly got the ball in the box since Lampard scored.

   Cahill shoots from distance and it's not terrible, but wide enough for Cech not to bother diving. 4 minutes injury time.

    Lampard finds Malouda on the left of the Everton box, but his shot is blocked. Everton need a set-play or something, because they haven't looked like creating a chance since the goal.

    Everton will be rueing Saha's miss just before they went behind. Ashley Cole has been named man of the match, although I'd have gone for Malouda myself

    Pienaar tackles Bosingwa who claims to be injured, before getting up. Pienaar cannot profit from the chance to create a shooting chance.

    Lampard goes down in the area and is booked for diving. It appears that this was not dedicated to the memory of his dear mother.

    Malouda into Drogba who sweeps it wide to Cole, but his cross is cleared.

    Dan Gosling replaces Leon Osman. Osman has had a poor game.

    Cech flaps at a cross - as is his wont these days - but Everton can't capitalise and the ball is belted to safety.

    Chelsea fans sing that they want Hiddink to stay. Who do they think Abramovich is more keen to appease, them or Russian president Medvedev.

    What ridiculous zig-zags Malouda has somehow insinuated into his hair.

    Yep I was right he said smugly. It was easily over the line, and Malouda has been denied a brilliant goal.

    Chelsea are back on it now. The ball is worked to Malouda in centrefield and he takes a step forward and crashes a shot off the underside of the bar. On first look I thought it might have bounced down over the line.

    Fellaini is penalised for fouling Mikel.

    James Vaughan replaces Saha.

    Pienaar is robbed by Anelka whose crossfield ball is brilliantly kept in by Cole. He works it back to Lampard, who plays in Malouda and one-on-one with Howard, he whacks it over the bar when he should have finished the game.

    I've said it before and doubtless I'll say it again, but once a dodgy keeper always a dodgy keeper.

    Lampard took Anelka's ball in centrefield, turned back inside onto his left foot, and hit a shot across Howard from 25 yards that the keeper should have saved. The obligatory pointing to the sky followed. I'm thinking about doing the same every time I'm happy with my match commentary.
