Darren Ambrose scored a cracker after Bolotn's opener had come from a more pregmatic approach but when Davis made it 2-1 you couldn't help but feel they deserved it. Newcastle were poor until going behind woke them up but Bolton were purposeful from the off.

In full flight and just 20 yards out you would have put your house on Robert having a pop but instead he elected to square it towards Shearer but the weak pass is cut out by N'Gotty.

Bowyer looked to have wasted a good position just inside the box by sending a cross for Ameobi too close to Jaaskelainen but the keeper spilled it and had to be brave to smother the rebound at Ameobi's feet.
